The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) has launched a probe into claims that a former teacher from West Greene High School misappropriated funds.

On Thursday, the TBI informed News Channel 11 that they were looking into allegations against a previous employee of Greene County Schools, suspected of embezzling money from a certain organization.

According to the TBI, the employee had stolen from the Tennessee Association of Agricultural Educators.

Christopher Malone, the Interim Director of Greene County Schools, acknowledged that the individual in question was an agriculture teacher at West Greene High School, but did not disclose any additional details.

Malone said the former teacher resigned on Aug. 13 shortly after being placed on leave.

Malone also noted that, to his knowledge, no school funds were embezzled.
