HANCOCK COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — An investigation has been requested by District Attorney General Dan Armstrong into reports concerning an incident involving a Hancock County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) officer, Armstrong announced.

According to Armstrong, he was notified around noon on Sunday about an event involving an HCSO officer that took place from Saturday night into Sunday morning. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation confirmed it is examining the situation surrounding an assault, following Armstrong’s request.

“At that moment, the incident was under investigation and no charges had been filed,” Armstrong stated on Monday morning. “I have not yet received any updates.”

Armstrong said he could not comment any further.
