In Savannah, Ga., an intriguing array of quirky facts and statistics emerges on every Friday the 13th. While some view it as an ominous day, others link it to the famous horror film series. Whether you see it as lucky or not, June 13, 2025, holds a unique significance: it’s the sole Friday the 13th of the year.

Typically, a year includes at least two instances of Friday the 13th. Having only one in a year is a rare occurrence, happening roughly once every 400 years due to the cyclical nature of the Gregorian calendar. Throughout its 400-year cycle, there will be 171 years with just one Friday the 13th, 170 years with two, and 59 years featuring three.

An additional intriguing point about the Gregorian calendar: While each year is guaranteed at least one Friday the 13th, there can be gaps as lengthy as 14 months between them.

And if you’re wondering why Friday the 13 is known as an unlucky day, it traces back to Scandinavian gods. An old tale says the god of mischief disrupted a dinner party of 12 other god.

Of course, there are those pesky movies too.
