THP: One injured after pursuit, wrong-way crash in Sullivan County

In Sullivan County, Tennessee, a police chase ended in a three-car accident, leaving one individual injured, and charges are forthcoming.

A report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol indicated that the crash occurred at 11:01 a.m. on Wednesday at Harr Road in Sullivan County.

Authorities report that a Lincoln MKZ was allegedly evading the Washington County, Virginia, Sheriff’s Office during a felony pursuit when the driver crossed into Sullivan County. The chase led the driver and two other vehicles, a Dodge Durango and a Chevy Silverado, southward on Harr Road.

During the chase, the Lincoln turned and drove northbound, hitting the Dodge’s side door and subsequently crashing head-on into the Chevy. The collision caused the Lincoln to catch fire, requiring firefighting efforts to put it out, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

THP said the driver of the Lincoln, Anthony Widner, 27, was injured in the crash. Charges against Widner are pending with the Washington County, Virginia, Sheriff’s Office.

The driver of the Dodge was reportedly not injured.

The driver and one passenger in the Chevy were reportedly not injured.
