In the aftermath of a shooting at a gathering near Lake Arcadia, just outside Oklahoma City, at least ten individuals have been hospitalized. The incident, which took place on Saturday night, has left the local community on edge as they await further details.
Edmond police spokesperson, Emily Ward, reported that authorities were alerted to gunfire around 9 p.m. The shots rang out during a party primarily attended by young people. As of late Sunday, the investigation was still ongoing, with no arrests made. Authorities have reassured the public that there appears to be no ongoing threat.
“We’re actively working throughout the metro area, interviewing victims and witnesses to piece together what happened,” Ward stated.
Beyond those who were transported by emergency services, additional victims sought medical attention on their own, Ward noted. The conditions of those injured range widely, but specifics have not been disclosed.
“We’re kind of all over the metro speaking with victims and witnesses,” Ward said.
She said that in addition to the 10 people taken to hospitals, more drove themselves. She said victims were in “various conditions.”
Arcadia Lake, located around 13 miles (21 kilometers) north of Oklahoma City, is a manmade reservoir used for flood control that is also a popular recreational spot that offers fishing, boating, picnicking and camping. It’s located in Edmond, an Oklahoma City suburb of about 100,000.
