WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump announced on Friday that the U.S. military executed its third lethal strike this month against a vessel suspected of drug smuggling.
In a social media post, Trump mentioned that the strike killed three individuals and targeted a vessel “affiliated with a Designated Terrorist Organization engaged in narcotrafficking within the USSOUTHCOM area of responsibility.” He did not provide specific location details, and the White House and Pentagon have yet to comment on the incident.
“Intelligence confirmed the vessel was transporting illicit narcotics and was moving along a known narcotrafficking route with the intent to harm Americans,” Trump stated in the post.
The U.S. twice this month carried out strikes against alleged drug-smuggling vessels that had originated from Venezuela.
