ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Two individuals have been taken into custody related to a street-racing incident in Orange County in 2023 that resulted in a woman’s death, as reported by the Florida Highway Patrol.

Jose David Gomez Urban, 22, and Diego Andres Victoriano Abreu, 21, are both facing charges of vehicular homicide stemming from the crash on June 17, 2023, as detailed in their arrest warrant affidavits.

According to the affidavits, Urban was driving a Toyota MR2 while allegedly racing against Abreu, who was in a Mini Cooper, along J. Lawson Boulevard. As they traveled north and reached the intersection with South Boggy Creek Road, the Toyota failed to successfully navigate a left-hand curve, veered off the road, and hit a palm tree in the grassy median, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Abreu reportedly turned his vehicle around and returned to the crash site, troopers stated.

Urban and his passenger, identified as Lindsey Delgado, were both trapped in the Toyota and had to be extricated, troopers said. Delgado was hospitalized in critical condition and later died on June 21, 2023, according to the affidavits.

Video footage from nearby reportedly showed the Toyota and the Mini Cooper traveling at a high rate of speed toward the crash site. The case eventually went cold until January 2025, when it was reassigned to another investigator who would eventually pinpoint the alleged criminal negligence of Urban and Abreu in the fatal crash.

The roadway where the crash occurred is a 40-mph zone, the affidavits state, adding it was determined that Urban and Abreu were traveling between 92 and 100 mph when the wreck happened.

Come late February, investigators had spoken with at least three witnesses who reported what they saw that night. One said that they saw Abreu make a quick U-turn and overheard bystanders claiming he and Urban racing moments before the crash, another said that they observed both vehicles pass them at a high rate of speed and the third witness said the same, thing adding they soon “pulled up to the crash scene and observed a cloud of smoke ahead.”

Urban and Abreu were booked Thursday and are being held on no bond in Orange County. They’re expected to make their first appearances in court on Friday.
