US focused on Gaza aid as Israel considers full takeover

() President Donald Trump has said the United States remains focused on providing humanitarian relief in Gaza, amid reports that Israel is considering further expanding military operations in the region.

On Tuesday, Trump was questioned whether he would support Israel reoccupying all of Gaza.

“We are there now, trying to get people fed. As you know, $60 million was given by the United States fairly recently to supply food,” Trump said. “As far as the rest of it, I really can’t say. That’s going to be pretty much up to Israel.”

Reports of a potential complete Israeli takeover of the Gaza Strip have been growing despite international outrage over the worsening hunger crisis and calls for a ceasefire.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a three-hour security discussion Tuesday in which the options were presented for proceeding with the campaign in Gaza.

The Gaza Health Ministry, which is run by Hamas, reported that more than 61,000 people have died from the war so far and that 188 people have died from starvation in Gaza. Of those 188 deaths, the ministry said half were children.

Trump and special envoy Steve Witkoff have reportedly discussed plans for the U.S. to potentially “take over” management of the humanitarian efforts in Gaza, according to Axios.
