Champaign Co. restaurant receives yellow placard, more than 10 violations found

The dining facility at Newman Hall, located on the University of Illinois campus in Champaign, has temporarily shut its doors following a health inspection that resulted in a red placard designation. This closure comes as the establishment strives to address health concerns, but they have assured residents that alternative meal arrangements are in place.

On October 20, a reinspection of Newman Hall’s food service by Upper Crust revealed that previous health violations had not been adequately addressed. The dining room initially received a yellow placard during an October 1 inspection, which highlighted over ten violations categorized as “priority” or “priority foundation” items.
