Plane with smoking engine returns to Las Vegas airport: Video

() A plane was returned to the airport in Las Vegas after smoke was seen coming from the left engine.

Harry Reid International Airport said American Airlines Flight 1665, which was departing for Charlotte, North Carolina, returned just before 8:25 a.m.

“American Airlines Flight 1665 returned safely to Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas around 8:20 a.m. local time on Wednesday, June 25, after the crew reported an engine issue,” the FAA said in a statement. “The Airbus A321 was headed to Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The FAA will investigate.”

The aircraft had 165 passengers.

After the plane landed safely, the fire department inspected the engine, and the aircraft taxied to the gate under its power.

No injuries were reported.
