Westville library awarded grant to improve technology, internet accessibility

Westville Library Secures Funding to Enhance Technology and Internet Access

WESTVILLE. (WCIA) — Every day, new research highlights the impact of technology on our world. In Vermilion County, a public library is making efforts to keep pace with these advancements.

The Westville Public Library District has received a technology grant from the Illinois Secretary of State. The grant provides approximately $30,000 to enhance the library’s facilities and services.

According to state officials, the grant aims to fund purchases such as updated software and technology, and to improve internet accessibility. The library director mentioned that, while specific plans for the funds are not yet decided, the aim is to engage the surrounding community in the process.

“I feel like this money could be used to bring in improvements, maybe new technology, maybe ideas that the community could use to just bring people into the library and make sure the community is aware of everything we have going on here,” Library Director Nick Sager said.

He said the money should be coming in next week — they’ll have two years to spend the grant. The library board will meet on Tuesday. Sager said they will work to figure out what the plan is.
