JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (WJHL) — A woman was arrested by Washington County sheriff’s deputies on three counts of assault against first responders.

As reported by the Washington County Sheriff’s office, deputies arrived at a scene of a domestic disturbance around midnight on August 23 at Hales Chapel Road. During their interaction with the complainants, Helton reportedly came out of the house and confronted one of them.

When instructed by a deputy to return to the residence, Helton allegedly responded by striking the deputy with a closed fist in the temple. The sheriff’s office stated that as deputies attempted to restrain her, she resisted by kicking, scratching, and grabbing them.

All deputies sustained injuries while taking Helton into custody.

Helton is being held in the Washington County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond. She will appear in court on Aug. 25.
