TALLINN – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy touched down in Estonia on Tuesday, where he participated in a summit featuring leaders from Nordic and Baltic nations. During his visit, he also met with Estonia’s President Alar Karis, as reported by Estonian public broadcaster ERR.

The summit took place in Tallinn, Estonia’s vibrant capital. Currently, Estonia holds the rotating presidency of the NB8, an alliance that includes the five Nordic nations alongside the three Baltic states. This gathering saw the prime ministers of these nations converging with President Zelenskyy.

Accompanying President Zelenskyy was First Lady Olena Zelenska. The Estonian Foreign Ministry extended a warm welcome to her through a message on the social media platform X.

This diplomatic visit unfolds against a backdrop of tension, as Ukrainian drones have frequently drifted into the region. These incidents come as Kyiv intensifies its offensive on Russian Baltic Sea ports, aiming to inflict economic consequences on Moscow for its ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Simultaneously, Russian strikes persist across Ukraine. In the northeastern region of Kharkiv, three individuals lost their lives, while 25 others, including three children, sustained injuries in the past day, according to Oleh Syniehubov, head of the regional administration.

Overnight attacks also targeted the Dnipropetrovsk region, resulting in injuries to three people, as reported by Oleksandr Hanzha, the head of the regional administration.

Russia launched 166 long-range strike drones and two guided missiles at Ukraine overnight, the Ukrainian air force said. Air defenses shot down 146 of the drones, it said.

Russia’s Defense Ministry said that air defenses downed 140 Ukrainian drones overnight. A woman was killed when a Ukrainian drone hit an apartment building in the Belgorod region, regional emergency officials said.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha also traveled to Tallinn, where he met his Estonian counterpart, Margus Tsahkna. The two discussed Ukraine’s security, pressure on Russia, and Kyiv’s bid to join the European Union, Tsahkna said.

“Estonia will continue to stand by Ukraine for as long as it takes,” Tsahkna wrote on X. “As Putin intensifies his attacks and shows no sign of abandoning his imperial ambitions, our responsibility is to increase pressure, not offer concessions.”

In May, Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said Estonia supports Ukraine’s bid to join the European Union and wants the bloc to keep advancing the process.

Separately, Zelenskyy said Monday that he had held positive talks with U.S. representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner during a stopover at an airport in Moldova’s capital, describing them as focused on ending the war. In a social media post, he said the two sides discussed diplomatic prospects ahead of this month’s Group of Seven summit, and that he had briefed the U.S. side on Ukraine’s assessment of Russia’s intentions.
