A group allegedly targeted a man’s home in Croydon by hurling rocks at it around 10:30 p.m. on Monday, prompting the 64-year-old resident to shout at them.
Initially, the group dispersed but returned to the location at approximately 2:30 a.m.
The resident and his partner reached out to the police for assistance but were informed that no units were available to respond to the situation.
Taking action himself, the man decided to pursue the group in his vehicle, following them to Manchester Road in Mooroolbark.
During this pursuit, he was attacked with a machete.
It has been confirmed that the man and the teenagers involved had no prior acquaintance before this incident occurred.
The man’s partner said he had been left with “deep, deep, wounds”
“He’s cut his arm, fractured through the bone and his fingers,” she said.
“It’s just left us shaken, you know, he came home in a bloodbath.”
No arrests have been made.
After Becker stopped a 14-year-old being robbed, four teenagers allegedly stabbed him to death with a machete.Â
Victoria Police commander Wayne Cheeseman said a weapon could turn a moment into “a lifetime of consequences”.
“It can cost someone their life, it can cost you your future,” Cheeseman said.
“I implore you to really think about the decisions you make.”
The 64-year-old man’s partner called for change after the attack.
“We need to change this country, we need to get the country back to the way it was,” she said.
