Nearly 20 years after a young NSW mother went missing, police are offering a $1million reward for useful information about her suspicious disappearance.

Amber Haigh and her six-month-old son had been living in Kingsvale, a town in the South West Slopes region, with a married couple when she vanished on June 5, 2002.

Her devastated family made an emotional plea urging the public to come forward with any information that will help lay the ‘kind, warm, loving’ woman to rest.

In a video message on Tuesday, Haigh’s sister Melissa Millar-Hodder and mother Rosalind Wright described her as a kind-hearted woman, who loved music, drawing and cats.

‘Amber, she had a kind, warm, loving soul. She would help anyone in any way,’ Ms Millar-Hodder said.

‘Not able to lay her to rest, not able to pick up the phone or give her hugs one last time; that has been taken away from us.’

Ms Wright said she did not believe her daughter would have willingly left behind her who was six months old at the time of her disappearance.

‘I know in my heart that she would never have left her son,’ Wright said.

‘We just need to lay our Amber to rest.’

The couple Haigh’s was living with at the time of her disappearance reported her missing on June 19 – two weeks after she vanished.

The couple said they dropped the 19-year-old at Campbelltown train station so she could visit her sick father in hospital in Mt Druitt, in Sydney’s west.

At about 8:45pm that night, money was withdrawn from her bank account at a Commonwealth Bank ATM on Queens Street in Campbelltown.

In 2011, a Coroner found Ms Haigh had been murdered, or died of misadventure in early June 2002.

Homicide Squad Commander, Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty renewed calls for help from the public on Tuesday as he announced the reward for information about her disappearance had increased from $100,000.

‘Amber’s disappearance and suspected death robbed a young boy of a mother’s presence in his life, and nobody has ever been held accountable for that,’ Det Supt Doherty said in a statement.
