At least one firefighter has been killed in a shooting at a fire station in Santa Clarita, California, after a gunman opened fire then drove to his home, barricaded himself inside and set the house on fire.
The shooting happened at Fire Station 81 in Santa Clarita on Tuesday at around 11am local time. One firefighter was killed and another has been injured, shot multiple times.
Initial reports suggest the gunman then fled the scene in a white SUV and drove to a property in Acton, on Bent Spur Drive, where he barricaded himself inside.
ABC reports that he has set the house on fire, and that the gunman is a disgruntled employee. The home is a three-bedroom, $700,000 property near the hills.
ABC says the gunman was spotted slumped in a chair in the back of the home and appears to have taken his own life, but police are yet to confirm it.
