Actress with rocker brother seen on rare outing... can you guess who?

Former actress Pamela Springsteen was seen during a rare public appearance in Los Angeles this week.

Now 64, she is best remembered for her roles in a cult horror franchise that took off in the 1980s and has recently enjoyed renewed attention after being referenced in a critically acclaimed new film.

Springsteen also carries one of music’s most recognizable surnames, sharing it with her older brother, celebrated rocker and songwriter Bruce Springsteen.

Earlier in her career, she was briefly engaged to a highly regarded actor who recently collected his third Academy Award. The pair had appeared together in a beloved 1980s teen comedy.

After stepping away from acting in the early 1990s, Springsteen pursued a quieter career as a photographer.

So, can you identify this former scream queen?

The actress is Pamela Springsteen, younger sister of rock icon Bruce Springsteen.

Pamela Springsteen rose to cult fame through her performances in Sleepaway Camp II: Unhappy Campers (1988) and Sleepaway Camp III: Teenage Wasteland (1989).

Our News Outlet has contacted Springsteen for comment but has not received a response.

During her Los Angeles outing, the retired actress opted for a relaxed, contemporary look. She wore a charcoal-colored shirt featuring a peace symbol.

A pale-gray zip-up hoodie provided an extra layer, while white flared jeans and sandals completed the casual ensemble and highlighted her striking figure.

Springsteen is 13 years younger than Bruce. When she was seven, she moved with their parents to California, while Bruce and their sister Virginia stayed in New Jersey—a place that would later inspire many of his best-known songs.

The move may have helped open the door to a career in film after she pursued acting, although her famous family name presumably offered an advantage as well.

Her screen debut came in the classic 1982 coming-of-age comedy Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

The film featured Sean Penn, Judge Reinhold, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Phoebe Cates in starring roles, while Nicolas Cage and Eric Stoltz had small early roles and Anthony Edwards and Forest Whitaker both made their feature debuts.

Springsteen only had a small role in Fast Times at Ridgemont High as a cheerleader.

The rising star and her costar Penn dated and were briefly engaged around the filming of the comedy.

In a 2009 interview with Rolling Stone, the One Battle After Another actor briefly recalled how he had been living with his then-fiancée in the early ’80s.

‘We were actually living in an apartment in California that he owned and I was piggybacking on – I was like some homeless guitar player,’ Penn said.

He also recalled how Bruce sent Pamela an early recording of his Nebraska song Highway Patrolman before the 1982 solo album was released.

‘I thought it could be a movie as soon as I heard it. I spoke to Bruce that day,’ said Penn, who later adapted the song’s lyrics into The Indian Runner (1991), which he wrote and directed.

‘I called him and said I wanted to make a movie out of his song. I was just a kid, so it was safe for him to say yes,’ Penn continued. ‘He was like, “OK, Sean, sure.” Probably thinking, “I’ll never be hearing about this again.” But he kept his word.’

Pamela later married Bobby Roth in 2002, and they share one child.

Two years after Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Pamela Springsteen again appeared as a cheerleader in 1984’s Reckless.

She followed it up with small roles in Modern Girls (1986) and Scenes from the Goldmine (1987), while her scenes from 1985’s My Science Project were left on the cutting room floor.

Springsteen had a breakout year in 1988, when she scored her first major supporting role in Dixie Lanes.

But it was in that year’s Sleepaway Camp II: Unhappy Campers that she had her first leading role.

The movie took a darkly comic tone compared to the more traditionally scary style of the 1983 original, and Springsteen reprised the role of the killer, who went from being a camper to a camp counselor.

She went on to slay more unsuspecting campers in 1989’s Sleepaway Camp III: Teenage Wasteland.

Both films, which later became cult objects, were referenced in the recent critically acclaimed horror-comedy Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, which stars Hannah Einbinder and Gillian Anderson.

Springsteen also had guest appearances on television on shows including Cagney & Lacey, The Facts of Life and Family Ties, but she gave up acting altogether after appearing in 1990’s The Gumshoe Kid.

Since then, she has focused on her work as a still photographer, where she regularly works in the film and music industries.

Pamela has collaborated multiple times with her brother Bruce, whom she photographed for his 1992 LP Lucky Town, as well as for several of his singles.

She also went on to serve as the cinematographer on the music video for his song The Ghost of Tom Joad.
