Adele is said to have fired her creative team and hired a whole new one in a bid to help save her postponed Las Vegas residency.

The singer, 33, is understood to have split with the creative team behind the residency and instead drafted in Take That’s creative expert to take the reins.

Her decision comes after she revealed the postponed run of concerts will ‘absolutely’ be happening this year as she wants to have another baby next year.

Adele has parted ways with her long-term collaborator Esmeralda ‘Es’ Devlin, who designed the set for her 121-date tour in 2016, and has hired Kim Gavin and Stufish, according to The Telegraph.

Artistic director Kim has been behind every Take That tour since 1992 and has won a BAFTA for his work on Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.

While Stufish are the production designers who are behind the Rolling Stones upcoming 60th anniversary tour and Stormzy’s Heavy is the Head tour.

A source close to production told the publication that the new team will ‘develop a new show as everything from the Es show has been scrapped’.

Adele reportedly clashed with Es in ‘explosive arguments’ over the staging and production of the Las Vegas shows.

The Easy On Me hitmaker was forced to axe all her Las Vegas shows at the 11th hour in January after being ‘destroyed by delivery delays and Covid’.

But she plans to restart the Weekends with Adele shows at the end of July or early August, a source has claimed.

MailOnline has contacted Adele’s representatives for comment.

The Las Vagas cancellation reportedly came after behind-the-scenes clashes between Adele and acclaimed set designer Es – with whom she previously worked on her 2016 world tour.

One source claimed: ‘In spite of the set costing millions to put together, Adele was unhappy with the result, and she made her feelings very clear to Es.

‘She was already nervous and the falling-out sent her spiralling into a panic because she was desperate that everything should be perfect.’

A second source said the dispute came after the production had already been thrown into chaos by ‘endless changes’ to the running order.

They added: ‘There was no real clarity around what Adele wanted for the show because of the endless changes being made to the production.

‘It seemed that while she has always preferred a stripped-back performance, she was under some pressure to come up with a huge extravaganza.

‘So there was a constant ricochet between those two versions of what the show should be, and it did cause some quite explosive arguments.

‘Most shows have teething problems of one kind or another, but there has been a feeling for some time that these shows were heading for disaster.

‘It is well known that Adele suffers badly with anxiety when it comes to performing live, so it’s hard to imagine her going ahead if she wasn’t happy.’

In January, the star tearfully told fans she could not go ahead with the residency less than a day before her scheduled debut show at Caesars Palace.

On the Graham Norton Show, Adele later addressed her cancelled dates, admitting her ‘regret’ at the last minute announcement as she insists it would have been a ‘half-a**ed show,’ if she had gone ahead.

Who is Adele’s new and old creative team?

Kim Gavin

Artistic director Kim has been behind every Take That tour since 1992 and has won a BAFTA for his work on Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.

He is responsible for directing and choreographing the hit musical Oh! What A Night, starring Kid Creole, a global hit following its launch in 1997.

Kim has also contributed creatively to TV shows and live events including The Brit Awards, Golden Jubilee ‘Party At The Palace’, ‘Concert for Diana’ at Wembley Stadium, ‘Children In Need Rocks The Albert Hall’, ‘Help For Heroes Concert’ and the ‘Invictus Games’ Opening Ceremony

Since last year his focus has been  In the past 12 months Kim has been developing events for the Sphere in Las Vegas and new project for Universal Creative , Florida.

Stufish

Stufish are the production designers who are behind the Rolling Stones upcoming 60th anniversary tour and Stormzy’s Heavy is the Head tour.

They describe themselves as ‘entertainment architects creating unforgettable experiences through radical and spectacular design’ and ‘deliver our client’s vision by partnering closely with them from the very first concept to the final reality, and always with meticulous design detail in mind.’

To date their work includes U2’s 360 ° Claw, Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s OTR II floating stage and the bespoke Dai Show theatre in China.

Esmeralda ‘Es’ Devlin

The Guardian previously called Es ‘the world’s most influential set designer’ having worked on Beyonce’s Formation tour, Miley Cyrus’ BANGERZ shows and joining Jay-Z and Kanye West for the Watch the Throne tour.

Es began in theatre after getting an English literature from Bristol University followed by a foundation degree at Central St Martin’s.

She’s previously worked with Adele and claimed in 2016 that the superstar ‘didn’t want to go on tour’ but was convinced to by her set designs.

She told the Evening Standard: ‘She had to like the design before agreeing to do the tour. She’s got a child, she didn’t want to go.’

The trick, she claims, was to help get over Adele’s stage fright by designing something that allowed the hitmaker to the ‘big-old eyeliner’ diva and the ‘little-old ‘alwite you!’ from Tottenham’ at the same time.

The result was Adele’s blinking eyelids – with thick lashings of mascara – projected onto a canvas backdrop.

As a superstar design, Es gets inside the audience and performers’ minds.

Other stars she’s worked with include Lady Gaga, and Rihanna and Adele, as well as three Louis Vuitton catwalk shows, two Olympic ceremonies.

She’s also done dozens of West End shows – including the Barbican’s sell-out Hamlet production, starring Benedict Cumberbatch. She has received multiple accolades including three Oliviers and an OBE.

‘I tried my hardest and really thought I would be able to pull something together in time,’ Adele explained. ‘I regret that I kept going until that late in the day. It would have been a really half-a***d show and I can’t do that.’

‘People will see straight through me up on the stage and know I didn’t want to be doing it. I’ve never done anything like that in my life and I’m not going to start now.’

But she promised that the shows would take place later this year as she revealed she wants to have a baby with her beau Rich Paul next year.

‘We are now working our a***s off, but I don’t want to announce a new set of dates until I know everything will definitely be ready. The sooner I can announce the better, but I just can’t in case we are not ready in time.’

‘It is absolutely 100% happening this year. It has to happen this year because I’ve got plans for next year.

‘Imagine if I have to cancel because I am having a baby!’

Her comments came after she announced her decision to postpone her Las Vegas shows in a tearful Instagram video, apologising to her fans.

She said: ‘I’m so upset and I’m really embarrassed. We’ve been absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and Covid. Half my crew and team are [ill] with Covid and still are, and it’s been impossible to finish the show.’

Adele said that ‘half’ her crew and team were off with Covid-19, which was indeed at the peak of a surge in Nevada.

‘We’ve tried absolutely everything we can to put it together in time and for it to be good enough for you, but we’ve been absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and Covid,’ she said.

‘Half my crew and team are [ill] with Covid and still are, and it’s been impossible to finish the show. I’m gutted — I’m sorry it’s so last minute, we’ve been awake for over 30 hours trying to figure it out and we’ve run out of time.

‘I’m so upset and I’m really embarrassed and so sorry to everyone that travelled. I’m really, really sorry.’

Many fans who had paid between $85 and $12,000 for a ticket – or up to $30,000 on the black market – had already travelled to Las Vegas for the opening gig at the time of her announcement.

Adele was due to perform her biggest hits and most of her new album 30, which she says reflects her ‘inner turmoil’ at the end of her marriage to Simon Konecki, leaving her to ‘sob relentlessly’ as she made the record.

She has since found love with sports agent Rich Paul, who she has hinted she would like to marry and have a baby with.
