ORLANDO, Fla. – We all know that “Hips Don’t Lie” is a famous Shakira hit, but so did the loud sounds that resonated during her concert at Orlando’s Camping World Stadium this week.

Numerous complaints were posted online about the noise coming from the singer’s nearly sold-out concert Wednesday night.

News 6’s Justin Warmoth, who lives a few miles away from the stadium, posted on Facebook about the noise level.

“This Shakira concert at Camping World Stadium sounds like she’s playing in my driveway,” he wrote.

The post garnered hundreds of comments, many of them from peopel saying they also heard the concert from their homes.

“I live 1/2 mile away and it was the loudest concert in the 6 years l have been here,” one person commented.

“I was curious about what was happening tonight. From my home in College Park, it felt like a party was happening just two streets away,” a local resident shared.

“Residing in the SoDo/Thornton Park area, I’ve observed that cloudy weather often coincides with big concerts or festivals at Camping World. The music sounded so clear, I almost thought someone was driving past my house with their speakers blasting!” someone else remarked.

And Saharan dust may have played a role in the noise being heard miles away from the venue. The blanket of dust traveled over 5,000 miles to get to Central Florida and settled in right before the concert began.

News 6 meteorologist Michelle Morgan explained some of the science behind how the dust impacted the concert.

“Sound is also waves. You have sound waves and they need somewhere to go. So when you’re thinking of the Saharan dust layer hanging over Central Florida, you have the sound waves bouncing all over the place,” she said. “They’re essentially molecules, they’re bouncing off the Saharan dust and it’s enhancing the sound.”

If you heard Shakira, you’ll likely hear part of the Post Malone concert on Tuesday night as well.
