Americans demand answers on Lindsey Graham's sudden death

A new Daily Mail/JL Partners survey suggests many Americans remain uneasy over the sudden death of Senator Lindsey Graham.

Graham, 71, died unexpectedly on the evening of July 11, with his office saying at the time that he had suffered a “brief and sudden illness.”

According to autopsy findings, the preliminary cause of death was an aortic dissection linked to arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease.

An aortic dissection is a life-threatening condition that occurs when a tear develops in the wall of the aorta, the body’s largest artery.

Still, because the finding is not yet final, speculation has persisted around the circumstances of Graham’s death, particularly given his reputation as a foreign policy hawk who frequently criticized America’s adversaries.

A definitive cause of death will not be issued until Washington, D.C.’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner completes a full toxicology review and finalizes Graham’s death certificate.

The senator had recently returned from Ukraine, where he met with President Volodymyr Zelensky, a detail that has intensified unproven speculation about possible Kremlin involvement in his sudden death.

The poll found that 49 percent of Republican voters say they are either very or somewhat concerned about what caused Graham’s death.

Fourteen percent of all voters say they are very concerned, with an additional 23 percent somewhat concerned.

Concerns were not laid to rest when around 20 federal law enforcement agents from several agencies visited Graham’s DC neighborhood two days after his death.

One of Graham’s neighbors told the Daily Mail that five or six FBI agents asked him and other neighbors if they had seen anything ‘out of the ordinary’ before the Senator’s death.

Law enforcement has insisted that there is no evidence of foul play.

Donald Trump reinforced this opinion, saying last Tuesday that if the FBI was investigating Graham’s death, they were ‘wasting their time.’

But multiple prominent voices have said that the results of a final medical examination be released, if for no other reason than to quiet down conspiracy theories.

‘Given where [Graham] was and the sorts of things he was advocating for,’ Senator John Cornyn told NBC News, ‘I think we just ought to resolve all those questions by seeing what the toxicology reports show.’

DC’s Metropolitan Police Department confirmed to the Mail that they are leading the investigation into Graham’s death, as with most deaths in DC, but said that the Medical Examiner will determine ’cause and manner of death.’

Highlighting the animus felt towards Graham by America’s enemies, a giant sign displayed in Tehran last week appeared to celebrate the Senator’s death while hinting at Trump’s eventual demise.

Graham’s Senate seat has been filled on a temporary basis by his sister, Darline Graham Nordone.

Nordone, who was raised by Graham after their parents died, was appointed to finish her brother’s term by South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster and was sworn in on July 14.

Nordone announced this week in an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity that she intends to run in the Republican primary to permanently replace her late brother.

Trump endorsed her, giving her campaign a huge boost.

The Daily Mail has contacted the FBI and DC’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for comment.
