Arrest warrant issued for wife of cop found dead in their home

Authorities in Massachusetts have issued an arrest warrant for a Worcester woman accused in the death of her husband, an off-duty police officer.

Karen Solomon, 58, remained on the run after officers were called to the couple’s home in Worcester on Tuesday and discovered her husband, 57-year-old patrolman Kurt Solomon, dead inside.

Worcester Police Chief Paul Saucier said Karen Solomon has been charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

According to Saucier, Kurt Solomon suffered injuries caused by a “sharp object,” though officials have not disclosed further details about the circumstances of his death. Investigators said the officer’s service weapon was still accounted for when his body was located.

Police released surveillance footage on Thursday that they say shows Karen Solomon walking along a street in flip flops after the incident.

The video appeared to capture the wanted Worcester woman outside a veterinary medical facility roughly one mile from the Wildwood Avenue home where her husband was found.

In the footage, Solomon is seen moving past the animal clinic with a slight slouch, briefly turning to look over her left shoulder as she continues down the sidewalk.

The Ring camera recording was taken at around 5:40 a.m. Tuesday, approximately 10 minutes after police discovered Kurt Solomon dead inside the couple’s residence.

At a press conference on Tuesday, Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early would not disclose how Kurt died, describing the situation as a domestic incident.

Numerous agencies are now involved in the search for Solomon, which includes State Police, Homeland Security and the US Marshals Office.
