A P-plater was allegedly caught impersonating a foreign police officer by displaying fake Chinese police signs on a Mercedes in Sydney’s Inner West.
Traffic officers spotted the unusual sign on the black sedan in Everton Road, Strathfield.
Images show it said POILCE in white on the bonnet next to Chinese characters.
The 20-year-old man behind the wheel allegedly showed the officers ID and a disability pass.
Ammunition was also found in the car.
When the man’s house in Baulkham Hills was then searched, police allegedly found two guns.
He will face court for allegedly impersonating a foreign police officer and possessing firearms.
The charges against him comprise the use of emergency services organisation insignia, driving a motor vehicle with unauthorized police insignia, utilizing a false document to affect the exercise of public duty, holding a Category A or B licence without having approved storage (two counts), providing information known to be false or misleading, possessing an unauthorized prohibited firearm, and failing to comply with a P2 licence condition by not displaying P plates.
He was granted conditional bail to appear at Burwood Local Court tomorrow.
His firearms licence was suspended.
