A young actress recently fought back tears while recounting her experiences with Hollywood star Rebel Wilson, describing her as “very difficult to be around.” This comes in the wake of a contentious dispute involving an alleged case of sexual harassment.
Charlotte MacInnes initially believed she had landed a significant opportunity when she was cast in the musical comedy The Deb. The production, set in the rural landscapes of New South Wales, was directed and co-produced by Wilson, a prominent figure in the entertainment industry.
However, the relationship soured when MacInnes filed a lawsuit against the Pitch Perfect star. The lawsuit stems from social media posts in which Wilson allegedly claimed the young actress had expressed discomfort after sharing a bath in swimwear with co-producer Amanda Ghost.
Prior to this incident, in May 2023, MacInnes chose to prioritize a meeting with Ms. Ghost over attending a theater production with Wilson and fellow cast members from The Deb. This decision came four months before the contentious bathing episode.
Text messages presented in court reveal that MacInnes did not attend Wilson’s invitation but instead had dinner with Ms. Ghost. The day after, the actress sent an apologetic text to Wilson, stating, “Huge apologies again for last night … I lost track of time.”
“Huge apologies again for last night … I lost track of time,” the younger actor texted Wilson the next day.
“I appreciate the apology,” the Bridesmaid star replied.
“In the future, it is terribly rude to say you wanted a ticket to a show and then you don’t reply or follow up … not a great start to our working relationship.”
MacInnes offered her “huge apologies” and praised the older actor as “nothing short of wonderful”.
They were the first cracks in a relationship that completely fell apart when Wilson took to social media to allege the young actor had retracted her complaint to advance her career.
The Deb was released in Australia in early April after legal issues prevented its widespread release following its 2024 film festival premiere.
