Despite recent closures and staff layoffs in the UK, Australian BrewDog pubs are expected to remain unaffected. The UK-based BrewDog chain has shuttered numerous bars and let go of hundreds of employees, but its Australian operations stand strong.
BrewDog operates four breweries and approximately 100 pubs worldwide, with five locations in Australia. These venues are situated in Brisbane’s Murarrie and Fortitude Valley, Melbourne’s Pentridge, Sydney’s South Eveleigh, and West Perth in Perth, collectively employing dozens of staff members.
The BBC has reported that BrewDog and Tilray are currently in discussions regarding a potential deal involving BrewDog’s assets in both Australia and the United States.
It’s important to note that the BrewDog bars located in Sydney, Perth, and Melbourne are managed independently by the Australian Venue Co, which means they are unlikely to be impacted by the UK closures.
A representative from the Australian Venue Co confirmed to nine.com.au that the recent developments in the UK will not influence their BrewDog venues in Australia.
A spokesperson for Australian Venue Co told nine.com.au the closures and redundancies in the UK will not affect its BrewDog venues.
“BrewDog South Eveleigh in Sydney, BrewDog Perth and BrewDog Pentridge in Melbourne will continue to operate as normal and team members will remain in their current roles,” they said.
How the UK closures will affect the other two Australian locations remains unclear.
Nine.com.au has reached out to BrewDog’s Head of Australian Operations and the two Brisbane locations for comment.
