Out of the 39 individuals, 25 face significant challenges in securing employment, as they have been on JobSeeker benefits for over a year.
“Basic needs like medication and dental care—services many take for granted—become inaccessible,” explained Kasy Chambers, executive director of Anglicare Australia.
Chambers criticized the current job system, arguing it inadequately supports those most in need of employment opportunities.

She noted that the structure under which employment service providers operate fails to effectively assist individuals in finding appropriate jobs.
Data from the Internet Vacancy Index reveals a consistent decline in job postings over the past three years, with entry-level positions seeing the most significant decrease of 37%.
The report noted that the employment of checkout operators and cashiers had fallen by 20.6 per cent over the past five years, according to federal government figures, which reflected the rise of self-service technology.
