GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (WJHL) — Two people were arrested after allegedly stealing around $4,000 of merchandise from Bath & Body Works in Greeneville.

Incident reports from the Greeneville Police Department (GPD) indicate that an officer was called to a suspected shoplifting occurrence at Bath & Body Works, located at 1357 Tusculum Boulevard, on February 8.

A store manager reportedly told police that five women came into the store, put various items in baskets and their clothes and left without paying.

According to the GPD, a few of the women returned to the store, filling more baskets with merchandise. They allegedly departed in a white Hyundai, taking items valued at about $2,900.

The police department noted that the store manager said it’s against policy to confront people when they are stealing.

On Feb. 25, a GPD officer responded to another alleged shoplifting at the Bath & Body Works located on Tusculum Boulevard.

An employee informed the officer that a similar theft had taken place the previous day, with the same five women being suspected in the February 8 incident, as per the GPD.

During the alleged theft, the women took 52 items valued at $1,393.

The GPD identified the following suspects connected to the two alleged thefts:

  • Tamysja M. Payne, of Knoxville
  • Laquazja Brown, of Knoxville
  • Mauricesgria Goins
  • Dajeonna Hill

Brown was arrested in Knoxville and transferred to the custody of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department on April 11.

On April 28, Payne was arrested and charged with shoplifting/theft of property, according to the police department.

The GPD reported that arrest warrants have been filed for Goins and Hill.
