David Jones has hinted that its cherished Christmas window displays might make a comeback at its flagship Sydney location next year.
This year, the major department store chose to feature its loyalty program in the Elizabeth Street windows, foregoing the traditional holiday showcase.
Nevertheless, the retailer emphasized this week that “the Christmas spirit lives on in-store” with a Santa experience and choir performances.
One woman expressed how much the festive displays mean to her granddaughter, urging the store to “bring back the Christmas windows.”
“It’s the joy on their faces as they enter a magical world, a memory cherished across generations, shared with their grandchildren to witness the wonder,” she remarked.
A spokesperson for David Jones admitted that this year’s display did not meet expectations and failed to align with what many in the community had hoped for.
“We understand how deeply cherished the Christmas windows are by our customers and the community, and we truly appreciate the feedback we’ve received,” a David Jones spokesperson said.
“We greatly value our customers’ feedback and will take it on board as we plan future celebrations.
“We look forward to delighting our customers next year.”
