Former US vice president Kamala Harris has hinted she could make another bid for the White House in an interview with the BBC, saying she would “possibly” be president one day and expressing confidence that America will see a woman in the Oval Office in the future.
Harris marked her clearest indication yet that she might launch another presidential campaign in 2028, following her 2024 defeat to now-president Donald Trump, during an interview with BBC’s Laura Kuenssberg which will air on Sunday.

Former Vice President Harris has made it clear that she isn’t ready to step away from the spotlight just yet. “I am not done,” she declared, underscoring her ongoing commitment to political engagement.

Harris has been vocal about her concerns regarding former President Trump’s alleged authoritarian leanings, asserting that her warnings have been validated. “He said he would weaponize the Department of Justice, and he has done exactly that,” she stated, pointing to what she views as a troubling trend.

In her critique of Trump’s influence, Harris referenced ABC’s brief suspension of late-night host Jimmy Kimmel following his controversial remarks about Charlie Kirk’s death. At the time, Trump appeared to take satisfaction in the network’s decision.

“Consider how he has manipulated federal agencies to target political satirists,” Harris argued. “His skin is so thin that he couldn’t tolerate criticism from a joke, leading him to attempt to dismantle an entire media outlet.”

Harris also expressed disappointment with American business leaders and institutions that she feels have too readily aligned themselves with Trump’s agenda.

“There are many who have surrendered since day one, submitting to a tyrant for various reasons,” she told the BBC. “They seek proximity to power, perhaps to secure a merger approval or to dodge an investigation.”
