The seventh and final person involved in an alleged machete brawl that locked down a Melbourne shopping centre has now been arrested, police say.

A brawl erupted at Northland Shopping Centre in Preston, located in the northern part of the city, on Sunday afternoon, according to police reports.

Three individuals, who were reportedly part of what authorities consider a planned confrontation between opposing youth gangs, were taken to the hospital.

Previously, six individuals had been charged, and as of yesterday, the police stated they were looking for another person of interest.

Last night, police said an 18-year-old Thornhill Park man had been arrested, making him the seventh person charged in connection with the incident.

He was charged with affray and weapons offences.

He was remanded in custody and will appear in court today.

Police have also seized three edged weapons during the investigation.
