A motorist has been apprehended and hospitalized after purportedly colliding with a group of motorcyclists in Sydney’s southwestern region late last night.
Authorities reported that around 8:30 pm, a Holden Cruze Sedan allegedly struck several motorcyclists who were stationed at the intersection of the Hume Highway and Johnson Road in Bass Hill.
The 49-year-old driver subsequently left the scene but was reportedly confronted and attacked by some of the motorcyclists at a nearby Speedway petrol station in Bass Hill.
9News indicates that the motorcyclists involved were the same individuals captured in both video recordings.
After departing from the petrol station, the driver proceeded to a local shopping center parking lot, where he crashed into a fire hydrant. He absconded from the scene before law enforcement could reach him.
Subsequent investigations led to his arrest around 9 am today at a residence in Bass Hill.
He was taken to Bankstown Hospital under police guard for treatment of facial injuries and a possible fractured arm.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
