A man reportedly traveled to Syria several months ago with the intent to assist a woman and her children in returning to Australia.

According to NewsCorp, upon arriving in Sydney, the man was apprehended on an unrelated assault charge. Remarkably, he shared the flight with Janai Safar, one of the women referred to as “ISIS brides,” who touched down at Sydney Airport on Thursday evening.

The 32-year-old woman is currently held at Silverwater Women’s Prison after being taken there shortly after her 11 pm arrival in Sydney.

Despite her situation, the judge determined that her case did not present exceptional circumstances, resulting in the denial of bail.

Meanwhile, in Melbourne, another mother and daughter duo faced arrest and made a brief court appearance. They are expected to return to court on Monday to request bail.
