Astonishingly, a driver emerged largely unscathed from a dramatic crash during peak traffic hours in Prospect, an inner suburb of Adelaide.

The collision unfolded on Regency Road as a vehicle emerged from a driveway, leading to an impact that toppled a van onto its side, sending it skidding along the roadway.

The force of the crash also propelled another vehicle across the median strip, placing it on the opposing side of the road.

The van driver was taken to hospital with a minor back injury.  (Nine)

Witnessing the scene, nearby tradesmen sprang into action. One tradesman recounted to 9News his readiness to assist the driver, only to be surprised when the driver began to climb out of the wrecked van independently and walked away.

“They opened the door from there and tried to help the man, but he managed to climb out on his own,” a witness shared.

“They opened the door from there and they tried to pull the man out but the man himself came out,” a witness said.

The van driver was taken to hospital with a minor back injury.

The driver of the Mazda, a woman in her 30s, has been fined for driving without proper control.
