'Major player' charged with murder over Sydney grandfather's death

In a development that has shocked the community, police have taken a man into custody at a residence in Seven Hills, alleging his involvement in orchestrating the abduction of an 85-year-old man named Baghsarian. Authorities assert that he not only facilitated the kidnapping but also recruited others to execute the plan.

The widower was taken from his home in North Ryde on February 13th, though police later found he was not the intended target.

Investigators suspect the man recently arrested may have connections to either Stevens or Andrews, although police have confirmed that these individuals do not appear in the CCTV footage that was made public last week.

Detective Marks indicated that the alleged crime was a complex operation, involving as many as nine individuals. He suggested that these people might have been organized into separate groups, each playing distinct roles in the kidnapping and subsequent murder.

The house in Dural is believed to have served as a central hub where many of the alleged perpetrators gathered. According to Marks, this location was pivotal in the coordination of the entire illicit operation.

He further explained that there was a significant overlap in the activities between the house in North Ryde and the one in Dural, particularly concerning the handling and eventual disposal of the victim’s remains.

There was some crossover from the [North Ryde] house to Dural, and the disposal of remains.

“Those persons were all involved in certain aspects [and] the central point would have been Dural.”
