National regulatory bodies and various health organizations are working in tandem to ensure public safety and maintain consistent precautionary measures as the situation develops, according to recent guidelines.
In cases where the sand remains in its original packaging, it is advised to place it inside a durable plastic bag, secure it with tape, and store it safely while awaiting further disposal instructions.
The advisory also suggests, “Whenever possible, keep children and others away from areas where the sand has been used until those areas have been thoroughly cleaned.”

Officeworks was a “major supplier” for the sand, the ACCC said, with the products sold in Australia between 2020 and 2025.
