Oprah Winfrey is currently journeying through Australia and New Zealand on a dynamic speaking tour, but she’s also making sure to soak up the local scenery and keep active while she’s there.

The 71-year-old talk show icon, who has recently shed around 50 pounds, took to Instagram to share a snapshot that highlights her impressively toned figure. The photo captures Winfrey on a boardwalk, with the picturesque backdrop of Auckland city, flaunting her fitness progress.

Dressed in form-fitting athletic pants and a snug gray top, she accessorized with an oversized jacket and a stylish hat to shield her eyes from the sun’s bright rays. Her ensemble perfectly blends comfort and style for her active lifestyle.

‘Last stop on my speaking tour: Auckland, New Zealand! See you tomorrow night,’ she wrote in the caption on Friday.

Oprah’s “Oprah in Conversation” tour in the southern hemisphere includes engaging discussions with local journalist Melissa Doyle. These intimate chats explore themes of authenticity, resilience, and personal growth, emphasizing the boundless possibilities life offers.

This tour marks Winfrey’s first return to Australia and New Zealand in a decade, and she’s making the most of it by engaging in various workouts, such as attending a Pilates class during her stop in Melbourne.

This is Winfrey’s first time to Australia and New Zealand in 10 years and needless to say she’s been squeezing in a lot of workouts, including a Pilates class during a stop in Melbourne.

In a previous Instagram post, the TV titan wrote, ‘The first time I came to Melbourne back in 2010, I stopped by @jewelchic’s house for tequila and dancing. This time around, we changed it up and took a Pilates class at her son’s @joyfulpilates.

‘It was joyful… and challenging!’ Winfrey added. ‘So if you see me and @melissadoyleofficial taking our time getting to the stage tonight, you’ll know why—our hamstrings are on fire!’

Winfrey has been open about her weight loss journey and her struggles with yo-yo dieting, but she’s managed to get a firm handle on it at long last.

Knee surgery, medication, and a healthy mindset have turned her life around for the better.

‘After knee surgery, I started hiking and setting new distance goals each week. I could eventually hike three to five miles every day. I felt stronger, more fit and more alive than I’d felt in years,’ Winfrey told People in 2023.

She told the publication that medication – whose name she has not disclosed – helped her to manage weight fluctuations, calling it a ‘relief.’

‘The fact that there’s a medically approved prescription for managing weight and staying healthier, in my lifetime, feels like relief, like redemption, like a gift, and not something to hide behind and once again be ridiculed for,’ she said.

‘I’m absolutely done with the shaming from other people and particularly myself.’

Winfrey spoke about her different mindsight on the Today show in August 2024, telling Al Roker: ‘There is a sense of knowing that there isn’t as much time left and I am at peace with that knowing. There’s a sense of urgency for me about living well.’

‘I had been becoming more and more debilitated to the point where it was hard to walk down even two steps just to get into the car,’ she said.

But the double knee replacement surgery spurred her to get up and move, calling it ‘the best thing’ she had done.

‘I really felt like I’ve had a new opportunity to live inside my body in a way that I hadn’t been able to for years because being overweight, and being overweight causing the knees to be even worse,’ Winfrey shared.

Winfrey now feels better than she has done in many years.

The TV icon – who hosted The Oprah Winfrey Show for 25 years – explained: ‘I think I have just aged into a form of myself that is wiser, that is certainly stronger, that is more vibrant and aware and conscious than I’ve ever been. I don’t feel that my edges are softening.’
