Authorities announced on Saturday that over 850 individuals were rescued, some found grasping onto trees, following an unexpected storm that poured up to 38cm of rain across the area, approximately 140 km northwest of San Antonio.

“Everyone in the community is hurting,” Leitha told reporters.
United States Coast Guard helicopters and planes are helping the search and rescue efforts, DHS said.
Camp Mystic had 700 girls in residence at the time of the flooding.
