The NSW Police force is under fire after revelations emerged that the Jewish community had asked for additional officers to attend the Hanukkah festival on the day of the Bondi Beach attack.

The Community Security Group, a volunteer-led organization, had classified the recent event as high risk, and requested significant police presence throughout its duration, according to reports from nine newspapers.

However, sources revealed that instead of dedicating multiple officers to the event, junior officers were instructed to include the event in their broad patrol of Bondi Beach, checking in intermittently.

Despite the initial concerns, the event concluded peacefully without any incidents of violence.

Sutherland Shire Mayor, Jack Boyd, commented on law enforcement’s vigilance following a previous attack at Bondi. “The police are monitoring threats closely and are ready to respond if necessary. But as you can see, everyone is simply enjoying a day at the beach,” Boyd noted.

In a related development, Ryder Roy Shaw, the 20-year-old accused of making a threatening social media post, was charged and denied bail at Gosford Court earlier this week.

The man accused of creating that social media post, 20-year-old Ryder Roy Shaw, was charged and has been denied bail at Gosford Court this week.

He will remain behind bars until his next hearing.

Police alleged his post publicly threatened violence on the grounds of race or religion.
