Police are searching for a hit-run driver who left a seriously injured pedestrian at the scene of a collision in Melbourne’s east last month.

Surveillance video captures the moment Sally Lusted, 48, was struck by a dark-colored sedan while crossing the intersection of Springfield and Mitcham Roads around 12:10 p.m. on September 29.

The footage reveals Lusted being propelled approximately a meter down the street after colliding with the car’s bonnet.

“This is behavior we do not expect from our community members,” commented an official.

According to Knight, the driver could potentially face several charges, including failure to yield, not providing assistance, and leaving the scene of an accident.

“Given the severity of Sally’s injuries and the extensive recovery process, additional charges may be considered,” Knight added.

The driver is described as a Caucasian woman in her late 60s to early 70s, with shoulder-length hair, wearing loose leggings and a grey jumper.

Investigators are also appealing for any witnesses or drivers with dashcam footage of the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
