Two men accused of being part of a criminal network have been charged in Victoria over alleged drug and weapon trafficking offences.

In a significant operation yesterday, heavily-armed police officers conducted raids on three rural properties located in Lara, Gisborne, and Thomastown. The coordinated effort led to the seizure of 11 firearms and a substantial cache of drugs.

The array of confiscated weapons included homemade firearms, imitation guns, a gel blaster, as well as various firearm parts and ammunition.

The operation saw the involvement of specialized police units, including the bomb response unit and the special operations group, underscoring the seriousness of the situation.

At the Lara property, situated northeast of Geelong, police utilized advanced technology, deploying both robots and drones to aid in the search.

In total, four local men were taken into custody following the raids.

Today, two of the men, aged 54 and 38, faced charges related to weapons and drugs. They are scheduled to appear in court at a future date.

A 19-year-old man and a 32-year-old man are expected to be charged with firearms offences.

Police say yesterday’s operation was as part of an ongoing investigation into an alleged syndicate linked to trafficking and manufacturing drugs and firearms.
