A prominent national music festival has finally explained why it discreetly removed the emerging artist d4vd from its high-profile lineup. This follows the identification of human remains discovered in his Tesla, belonging to a teenager who disappeared last year.
Last week, Spilt Milk erased the singer from their website, coinciding with the cancellation of the remaining shows on his US tour and upcoming European tour dates on ticket booking platforms.
Today, organizers have clarified that d4vd will not be appearing at their festival this year due to the “ongoing situation” he is connected to internationally.
Rivas was last seen in Lake Elsinore in April 2024, about 95 kilometres south-east of downtown Los Angeles.
She was 13 at the time.
d4vd has not been arrested or charged over her disappearance or death, and his representatives have told NBC that he is cooperating with authorities.
The Houston-native artist gained fame when his viral TikTok hit Romantic Homicide propelled him into the spotlight. He was promoting his inaugural album, Withered, when the news about the human remains emerged.
Prior to today’s announcement, Spilt Milk’s social media was inundated with fan inquiries regarding d4vd’s status in the lineup and speculation about his potential removal.
Spilt Milk is gearing up to start their music festival tour in a few months, beginning in Ballarat on December 6, then moving to Perth and Canberra, and concluding on the Gold Coast on December 14.
This year’s music festival has gained quite a lot of buzz for its stellar line-up and features the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Doechii, Dominic Fike, Schoolboy Q, Skin on Skin and Sombr.
