The urgent investigation into the apparent kidnapping of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie continued, a week after the mother of US TV anchor Savannah Guthrie was reported missing in Arizona.
The host of NBC News’ Today solemnly told the potential kidnappers in a social media video released yesterday that the family was prepared to pay for her safe return.
Standing alongside her siblings, Guthrie addressed the public, stating, “We have received your message,” and adding, “This is the only path to peace for us. It is invaluable, and we are prepared to pay.”
The White House said President Donald Trump called and spoke with Savannah Guthrie last week. The president told reporters on Friday that there are clues in the case “that I think are very strong.”
Officials have expressed increasing worries for Nancy Guthrie’s well-being, as she relies on daily medication. Reports indicate she has a pacemaker and has experienced high blood pressure and other heart-related issues, according to sheriff’s radio transmissions captured on broadcastify.com.
The video released by Guthrie yesterday marks the third appeal this week directed toward potential kidnappers.
