Frightening footage has captured the moment a man jumped from a car then was pursued and assaulted in Melbourne, before the attackers ran off.

Shortly after 10 p.m. on Monday, December 22, witnesses observed a man calling for assistance from a gray Toyota Yaris on McGregor Street in Pakenham.

The onlookers, who were documenting the unfolding incident, trailed the vehicle to Homestead Road in Berwick. There, the car decelerated, allowing a man to leap out in an attempt to flee.
