Australia’s most acclaimed female soccer star, Sam Kerr, and her fiancée, Kristie Mewis, a professional soccer player from the United States, have confirmed the birth of their first child.
“Our little man is here, Jagger Mewis-Kerr,” the pair said in a joint Instagram post on Thursday.

Last November, Kerr and Mewis joyfully revealed the pregnancy via social media, sharing a photo that highlighted Mewis’ growing baby bump.

In response, Chelsea Pride, an LGBTIQ+ supporter group affiliated with the men’s English Premier League and Women’s Super League (WSL) club for which Kerr plays, condemned the abuse as “heartbreaking and infuriating” adding that “homophobia has no place in football”.
Kerr welcomes Jagger into the world after an eventful few years, which include a — of which she was acquitted — and an injury which saw her miss much of the Matildas’ impressive 2023 World Cup campaign.
Mewis — who is an acclaimed athlete in her own right and plays for West Ham United as well as the US national team — met Kerr in 2020. They have been a couple since 2021 and became engaged in September 2023.
