In 2019, Village Roadshow Theme Parks, the owner of Sea World, transferred ownership of its joy flights service to Sea World Helicopters Pty Ltd.
Recently, the Tadros family, along with several other individuals, have initiated personal injury lawsuits against Sea World Helicopters Pty Ltd, filing their claims in the Queensland Supreme Court.
The inquest revealed that despite the sale, Village Roadshow maintained a degree of involvement with the helicopter operations. This involvement included aspects like ticket sales, conducting audits, and overseeing staff drug and alcohol testing.
In addition to Sea World Helicopters, the claimants have also named the Gold Coast City Council in their District Court applications. The council had previously given the green light for the Sea World helipad.
Furthermore, Jetpoint, the company responsible for certifying the helicopters’ airworthiness, and the Civil Aviation Safety Authority are also listed as defendants in the seven legal applications.
