Emergency services were dispatched to Bungarribee Road in Blacktown around 3 p.m., responding to reports of a two-car accident.

Upon arrival, authorities discovered that a police vehicle had collided with a Mitsubishi SUV while on its way to an urgent call, using lights and sirens.

The incident occurred when the SUV allegedly turned into the path of the speeding police car.

In an attempt to avoid the SUV, the police vehicle clipped it and subsequently crashed into a nearby home.

The male constable, who was driving the police car, sustained minor injuries. His female colleague was trapped in the wreckage and reportedly suffered injuries to her arm.

The female constable was a passenger in the vehicle and was cut free.

The other driver, a 30-year-old man, is assisting police with their inquiries.

The road remains closed, and drivers are being urged to avoid the area.
