A tense situation unfolded at a school in Sydney’s eastern suburb of Rose Bay, where a student was charged following an alarming incident involving an air gun. The disturbance led to a temporary lockdown of the school, highlighting the gravity of the situation.

Authorities responded promptly to the scene at around 1:45 PM after receiving reports of a student allegedly armed with a firearm. Upon investigation, it was discovered that a 15-year-old had discharged a “BB gun” pellet, targeting another student.

According to the police statement released this morning, the young suspect reportedly exhibited what appeared to be a firearm to his peer before discharging the pellet. Despite the projectile hitting the student, no physical injuries were reported.

The incident understandably resulted in the school activating its lockdown procedures, ensuring the safety of the students and staff while the situation was being assessed and managed by the authorities.

“The projectile reportedly struck the student, though there were no reports of injuries.

“The incident prompted the school into lockdown.”

Police seized a “a ball-bearing-style firearm” allegedly used in the incident.

The 15-year-old was charged with possessing an unregistered unauthorised pistol in a public place, stalking or intimidating with intent to cause fear of physical harm and firing a firearm in or near a public place.

He’s due to face a children’s court today.
