For travellers drawn to grand towers, hidden plots and historic estates—but who would rather skip Scotland—there are striking alternatives. Around the world, spectacular properties provide the backdrop for international editions of The Traitors.
The latest UK series, Celebrity Traitors, begins tonight. Yet the hit format, first launched in the Netherlands in 2021, has since inspired more than 30 adaptations across the globe.
From the US, Australia and New Zealand to Ireland, France, Germany, Canada, India, Spain, Italy and Norway, broadcasters have created their own versions of the reality competition.
The phenomenon has even created a new form of travel, with “Traitors Tourism” helping local economies as devoted viewers make trips to see the show’s filming locations for themselves.
In the UK, the programme has generated £21.8million for the Scottish economy alone. Across the country, visitors can also find numerous properties and stays suited to a Traitors-themed getaway.
Several real-life filming locations used by the international franchises welcome paying guests, and Eurochange has highlighted some of the most memorable options.
