A toddler has died in Lake Macquarie after being hit by a car in a driveway.

The two-year-old was treated by paramedics at Rathmines, New South Wales, about 2.30pm but could not be revived.

NSW Police confirmed the death and have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“There is no further information at this time,” NSW Police told 9News.
