Residents reported hearing loud bangs and explosions, alongside the distressing cries of a woman calling for assistance.
After firefighters managed to control the fire, they discovered the bodies of two boys and a woman inside the charred remains.
According to 9News, the victims were identified as Jordana Johnson, Jordan Norris, and Chazz Mather.
This morning, Gladstone Mayor Matt Burnett told Today that the boys had been at the house for a sleepover.
“There are two sisters from one family, aged 21 and 17, with the younger sister now facing the unimaginable loss of her home, brother, and mother,” he stated.
“It’s an absolutely devastating situation,” he added.
He said the family were well-connected in the community, with the loss rippling out across the town.
Police put another home under guard in the same suburb yesterday, and confirmed that it was in connection to the fire.
The blaze is under investigation.
