Book a restaurant with Uber: A world first launches in Sydney
In a groundbreaking move, global rideshare and food delivery service Uber is introducing a new feature called Dine Out, launching exclusively in Sydney, marking its debut worldwide.
Revealed at the company’s fifth annual Go Get product showcase in New York City yesterday (early today AEST), Dine Out is a collaborative effort with restaurant-booking platform OpenTable, allowing Uber users to seamlessly reserve a table and schedule an Uber ride to and from the venue in one convenient step.

“It’s exciting and an honor for Australia to lead globally in trialing and refining the new Dine Out feature, which we believe will be advantageous for restaurants while also providing enhanced convenience and value for Sydney residents and visitors,” remarked Ed Kitchen, the managing director of Uber Eats Australia and New Zealand.

Among the new offerings are Ride Passes, allowing subscribers to secure a fixed fare on a particular route, thereby avoiding fluctuations in price caused by factors like weather or traffic. Additionally, a Prepaid Pass option permits users to buy between 5 and 20 rides in advance on a consistent route for extra savings.

Uber is reviving a carpool concept with its new service, Route Share, promising savings of up to 50 percent by sharing rides with up to two other passengers on major route corridors where Route Share is available.

There are also new Member Days for Uber One monthly subscribers where partner organisations will offer discounts to members, and a new Savings Slider allowing you to compare prices on popular grocery items being ordered on the Uber Eats app.
